Taiwan Part 2 - 1st opinions

When I arrived there, I thought my luggage had been lost as I needed to wait until everyones case had been taken for me to notice my luggage. But I got a question answered from my previous blog soon enough which was "When you get there at the airport and you need a taxi, are you just gonna click your fingers and a British taxi driver will magically appear?", if that person who asked that question is reading this blog then I have the most unbelievable news for you, There is a sign at the airport which said TAXI, and at that sign was a man who was fluent in English so he could transport English speaking tourists to where they need to be, I didn't have the magic powers to make a British taxi driver appear so I made do with this.

Well soon as I stepped outside, all I could smell was hot air and it was boiling at late night. Got to the hotel and they were all English speakers there too. Room was ok I guess, but all I wanted was somewhere to rest my eyes.

I thought to go and buy a few drinks so I went downstairs to ask for the hotel bar and they say "No there is no bar here, go six minutes down road and you find noodle bar" So then I went there and there was this guy named Charles serving me. All I wanted was a drink and cider doesn't exist there, I wern't even able to have a bottle of beer without having to buy a portion of noodles.

I did speak to Christine over the phone in the noodle bar (yes she does speak English, panic over) and she arranged the following days activities at the museum (oh dear) keep you all posted on what happened on that day peeps.

Taiwan Part 1 - ill conceived???

I decided to make my 1st post on Chronicles of a Vagabond Warrior about Taiwan. This is perhaps the start of my journey as there are many to come.

Before going there, I have never been on a plane in my life. I decided on this trip because a friend of mine on FB called Christine invited me over a few times, with her having a major in translation, 1 would assume I have my translator there too, despite days previous I asked her if she can speak English, she said "I don't know" (yep, I was panicking at this point lol).

A good number of people who I knew were very supportive of my journey, some comments included "I have the greatest of respect for you" or "Well may as well enjoy yourself while you can". Although there was 1 or 2 people at the time who I used to work with at Hell On Earth (will be mentioned in another blog), who was saying nothing but negative comments about me going there and calling me every name under the sun asking things such as "When you get there at the airport and you need a taxi, are you just gonna click your fingers and a British taxi driver will magically appear?" "What you going to do when your stood in front of the Chinese embassy?" and "You cant even speak Chinese, so how do you say fucking prawn in Chinese?", he even mentioned the phrase "ill conceived" multiple times throughout the day just to try make me feel it was the biggest mistake of my life. A customer made comments also most of which I'm too embarrassed to say on here as the comments were highly offensive. But despite all this, I still got prepared for a life changing trip.

My trip over there was a stop in Bangkok before arriving in Taiwan, it was 12 hours from London to Bangkok, then another 4 hours to Taipei. My nerves were really going because as mentioned earlier, its my 1st ever flight and I'm travelling half way across the world. It wasn't as bad as expected, there was on flight entertainment and ok food. The only thing that did concern me was the fact that there was this woman from Thailand in her mid 40's asleep next to me brushing my leg with her foot for 12 hours :O I'm so glad she got off at Bangkok and a married couple got the seats next to me instead (glad they wern't swingers either)
